According to an article on Techzone360.com, Infonetics Research expects double-digit sales expectations for the business video equipment market through 2015. This coincides with an expectation of the continued rise of SIP Trunking in the marketplace over the same period of time according to an article on TMCnet.com that also refers to Infonetics Research data. The fact is that the ease of integrating video into company phone systems is so great with the rise of SIP that consumers and companies will soon come to expect it. Implementation is as easy as installing a standard SIP phone on a compatible system, with only a few minutes more spent on adjusting the camera to the conditions of the office and desk.
Recently when contacting a coworker through the 3CXPhone on my laptop, I was surprised to see his smiling face! He had set up a GXV3175 7″ Touchscreen IP Multimedia Phone that morning in no time at all and had not even been able to test the video yet, so I was looking at him from the eyebrows up. The phone is sleek and the quality of the call had me start thinking about the video phone market.
Consumers have been able to video chat through computers for almost 2 decades with the first webcams hitting the web in 1991 and the first consumer products in 1994 (Wikipedia). Since then, consumers have expected video cameras to be built into PCs, Laptops, and mobile phones. Products such as Skype and Facetime have allowed consumers to use video in a greater number of places and even add video conferencing. We are already seeing webcams integrated in business phones like the Grandstream mentioned above, and the emergence of 3D web cams like Minoru 3D as well as in mobile devices.
The bulk of this adoption comes down to the ease of integration with SIP Trunking, an open platform for voice and more. The question for companies as they move forward is if the hardware is necessary now. Integrating a new phone system that has built-in video support, like 3CX Phone System, is common sense for a future forward system. Plus, it is far more affordable that proprietary systems; so, save and prepare for tomorrow.
